The Cyprus Film Scheme (the “Scheme”) which was drafted in accordance with European regulations, the objective of which is to promote the European culture and to provide investment aid for small and middle-sized enterprises (the “SMEs”), was approved in September 2017 as a means for promoting and advancing the film industry in Cyprus.
The government of the Republic of Cyprus introduced a package of incentives encouraging international producers to choose Cyprus as their next film destination. In specific, production companies that opt to Film Scheme in Cyprus will be able to choose between cash rebate or tax credit and can also benefit from tax discounts on investments made on equipment and infrastructure, and VAT returns on expenditure in scope. Qualifying production categories include, amongst others, feature Films (including animation), television Series or mini-series, documentaries for Theatrical or Television release, animation (digital or analogue), television research programs and natural history.

This multi-starrer Bollywood film directed by Zoya Akhtar used Cyprus as one of its beautiful international shooting locations. The film used the island to depict the luxury cruise experience, taking advantage of the breathtaking coastal views.
Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
Bachna Ae Haseeno shot some of its key sequences across Europe. While the majority of the film was shot in popular European destinations, parts of the movie were also filmed in Cyprus. The scenic backdrops offered by the island were used for some of the romantic and dramatic sequences.
