Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia

Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is a distinguished Namibian politician and diplomat, the nation’s first female president following her victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Born on October 29, 1952, H.E. Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah’s political activism began at the age of 14 when she joined the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), actively participating in the liberation struggle against South African rule. Her commitment led her into exile in 1973, during which she held various significant positions within SWAPO, including deputy representative and chief representative roles in Zambia and East Africa.

With extensive academic pursuits in the United Kingdom from 1987 to 1989, H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management from the Glasgow College of Technology, as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations and a Master’s Degree in Diplomatic Studies from Keele University.

Following Namibia’s independence in 1990, H.E. Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah has been a continuous member of the National Assembly and held various Ministerial positions. She served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation and lately as Vice President of Namibia. ​
