AM Green: A Champion of Sustainability Paving the Way for a Carbon Free Future

AM Green, incorporated by the founders of Hyderabad-based Greenko Group, Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli, is one of India’s leading energy transition solutions providers. Leveraging their entrepreneurial experience in pioneering new technologies, AM Green is shaping the future of energy.

AM Green’s goal is to become one of the most cost-competitive producers of green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other green molecules and their derivatives. AM Green is developing one of the world’s largest green ammonia platforms. The project will begin with a 1 million tonne production capacity at Kakinada, India, with plans to ramp up production to 5 million tonne of green ammonia per annum by 2030. This translates to 1 million metric tonnes per annum of hydrogen.

In India, AM Green is creating production capabilities for various green molecules, including green hydrogen, green ammonia, biofuels, e-methanol, sustainable aviation fuels, and downstream high-value chemicals. These solutions target decarbonization in hard-to-abate industries such as refineries, shipping, fertilizers, power generation, and chemicals.

Internationally, AM Green offers comprehensive sustainability solutions, combining expertise, innovation, and collaboration to address environmental challenges worldwide, with a specific focus on the U.S. and European markets.

AM Green’s Technology & Solutions arm, in a joint venture with John Cockerill, plans to manufacture electrolysers with a 4 GW capacity by 2028 and develop land and EPC services for 20 GW of renewable energy. It also focuses on technology partnerships for green fuels and chemicals, hydrogen storage, metal hydrate technology, and carbon capture. AM Green will identify U.S. projects for green ammonia and hydrogen, utilising the IRA, and is involved in international PSP, renewables, and storage projects.

A key area of focus for AM Green is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).  This alternative fuel is derived from non-petroleum sources like agricultural residues, forestry waste, and waste oils. It can be used in existing aircraft without modifications and boasts a smaller carbon footprint, potentially achieving a net-negative greenhouse gas footprint. SAF is crucial for reducing emissions as air travel grows.

While Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a key area of focus for AM Green, its commitment to a sustainable future extends far beyond that. The green solutions encompass a wider range of products, each contributing to decarbonization efforts across various industries.

Green hydrogen plays a vital role in diverse sectors. It refines crude oil, powers clean energy cells, and even fuels space exploration. Green methanol is a versatile building block for chemicals, plastics, and even a renewable fuel source.

AM Green’s impact goes beyond transportation. AM Green will manufacture green caustic soda, essential for water treatment, industrial processes, and food sanitation. Additionally, AM Green will produce green olefins, the building blocks for numerous plastics and materials used in construction, healthcare, and everyday items. Green chlorine, another product, ensures clean water supplies and finds applications in diverse industries.

AM Green offers a comprehensive range of green solutions impacting various sectors. The focus on green hydrogen production, green methanol, green caustic soda, and green olefins demonstrates its dedication to a broader sustainability strategy, with SAF remaining a significant contributor to decarbonize transportation.

Emerging as a leading energy transition solutions provider, AM Green tackles the critical need for carbon free energy sources while also leading the way in the shift to a more resilient and environmentally sustainable future.
