At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Rt. Hon’ble K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Radhika Shakya, will be paying a State Visit to India from April 6-8, 2018. A high-level delegation will accompany Prime Minister of Nepal.
The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to the two sides to review wide-ranging cooperative partnership, and to progress it further for the benefit of the two peoples.
The Prime Ministers of India Shri Narendra Modi and Shri. K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, recognised the untapped potential of inland waterways to contribute towards overall economic development of the region. The two Prime Ministers took the landmark decision to develop the inland waterways for the movement of cargo, within the framework of trade and transit arrangements, providing additional access to sea for Nepal. The Prime Minister of Nepal Shri. K.P. Sharma Oli, noted the enormous impact the additional connectivity would have on the growth of business and economy of Nepal.
With the objective of expanding connectivity to enhance people-to-people linkages and promote economic growth and development, the Prime Ministers of India and Nepal agreed to construct a new electrified rail line, with India’s financial support, connecting the border city of Raxaul in India to Kathmandu in Nepal.
During the visit, Prime Minister of Nepal will call on Rashtrapati ji and Vice President of India, and will hold talks with Prime Minister of India. EAM and other Ministers will call on the Prime Minister of Nepal. India and Nepal enjoy age-old, special ties of friendship and cooperation.
