New Delhi: Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, Visited to Serbia, Malta and Romania from 14-20 September 2018. The Vice President will be accompanied by Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister of State in Ministry of Finance, three Members of Parliament from Rajya Sabha- Shri Prasanna Acharya, Smt Vijila Sathyananth, Ms Saroj Pandey and one Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha- Shri Raghav Lakhanpal and other officials.
On the first leg of his three-nation tour, the Vice President was visited Serbia from 14-16 September 2018 at the invitation of the President of Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Aleksander Vucic. Mr Aleksandar Vucic had visited India in his capacity as the Prime Minister of Serbia, in January 2017, to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. India and Serbia have historic and special relations as co-founders of the Non-Aligned Movement. Both countries support each other on issues of core interest. This year, India and Serbia are also celebrating 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations. Bilateral trade between India and Serbia stands at approx USD 200 million.
During the visit, the Vice President will have a meeting with President Aleksander Vucic, who will host a Banquet in the honour of the Vice President. There will be separate meeting of Vice President with H.E. Mrs. Maja Gojkovic, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia and H.E. Mrs. Ana Brnabic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia will host a lunch for the Vice President. The Vice President will lay a Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The Vice President will address of the Special Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. He will also address the business representatives of India and Serbia at a Business Forum and interact with the Indian community during the visit.
