India participated at the G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting

Shri Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs led the Indian delegation at the G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting (DMM) under the Brazilian G20 Presidency held on 22-23 July 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ministers responsible for Development and Heads of Delegations of G20 Members, invited countries and International Organizations participated in the DMM, which was chaired by Ambassador Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.

The G20 Ministerial Declaration for reducing inequalities was adopted with full consensus. This was the first ever Development Ministerial declaration in the G20 making it even more special. With regard to fighting inequalities, Secretary (ER) underscored the critical need to accelerate efforts towards achieving the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Ministers and HoDs also adopted the G20 Call to Action on Strengthening Drinking-water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Services. During the interventions, Secretary (ER) highlighted Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s pathbreaking Missions to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development.
