Official Visit of Vice President of India to Qatar (04-07 June 2022)

New Delhi: As part of his three nations tour, Hon’ble Vice President of India (HPVI) Shri M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Qatar from 04-07 June 2022. During the visit, Vice President held delegation-level talks with Qatar’s Deputy Amir, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani, and review bilateral cooperation. Vice President met several other Qatari dignitaries during this visit. He also addressed the business roundtable in Qatar. A Community Reception was held on the occasion of the Vice President’s visit, where he addressed the members of the diverse Indian community in Qatar.

People-to-people contacts are at the heart of the historical relations between India and Qatar, with the latter hosting over 750,000 Indians. The multifaceted cooperation between the two sides has witnessed significant growth in economic, energy, investment, education, defence, and cultural ties. Bilateral trade crossed $15 billion in FY 2021-22. Qatar has also committed investments of over US$ 2 billion in various Indian companies over the past two years.
