New Delhi: H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, accompanied by a high level delegation, on a State Visit to India from September 30 – October 01, 2018.
It was the first visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India. President Mirziyoyev, accompanied by his spouse was visited to Agra on 30th September.
On 01st October, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was paid a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan after which he was visited to Raj Ghat to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and have Restricted and Delegation level talks at the Hyderabad House. President Mirziyoyev meet the Hon’ble President of India and attend the Presidential Banquet.
Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-President of India and Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs was called on President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Relations between India and Uzbekistan have traditionally been close and cordial. Since 2011, the two countries have elevated their relations to the level of “Strategic Partnership” encompassing cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas including political, economic, education, health, human resource development, defence, counter-terrorism, science and technology, culture and tourism. Exchange of frequent high level visits on both sides has served to cement bilateral ties. Both India and Uzbekistan have also been closely working together as members of SCO.
Visit of President of Uzbekistan was provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest and reinforce the strategic partnership which exists between India and Uzbekistan.
