Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, conceptualised in 2003 under the visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India (the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat), has today evolved as one of the most reputed global forums for business networking, knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships for inclusive growth and sustainable development. This “Tenth Edition” of Vibrant Gujarat will celebrate “20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat as the Summit of Success”.
Gujarat is committed to realizing Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and the State has been working relentlessly towards these visions. The agenda of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 will be carrying forward the national priorities and themes of G20 and I2U2, spreading its reach and vibrancy at state, national and international level.
As a precursor to the Summit, a programme is being planned in Ahmedabad to celebrate 20 years of Vibrant Gujarat as the Summit of Success. The programme will showcase the evolution of Gujarat from the inception in 2003 as an event to attract investments in the state to working towards a global leadership in 2024. Two curtain raiser events are being planned at New Delhi and Mumbai.
In addition, various seminars and events will be organized to showcase Gujarat’s distinctive accomplishments, strengths across sectors, and its preparedness to lead the visions of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047. Various themes of the seminars are Food security, Advanced Technology, Startups & Innovation, Health care and Life Science, Sustainability to name a few.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2024, to be held from 9th January 2024, will showcase ‘TECHADE and Disruptive Technologies’ with a focus on Champion Services Sector including Digital India initiatives, India Stack, Emerging technologies (Industry 4.0, Smart manufacturing, AI/ML to name a few), Smart Infrastructure / Smart Cities, Consumer technology as well as application of technology in various service sectors such as financial services, healthcare, education, environment, tourism & hospitality.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 will be held from 10th – 12th January 2024. Few of the highlights of the Summit include a session on Gujarat’s Roadmap to Viksit Bharat @ 2047, MSME conclave etc.
Prime Minister Modi met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic on the sidelines of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024:
Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Petr Fiala, visited India from 9-11 January 2024 to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Fiala. The two leaders discussed ways to advance bilateral ties, especially in the knowledge, technology and scientific fields. Prime Minister noted that several Czech companies had partnered with Indian manufacturers in the defence, railways, and aviation sectors under the Make in India initiative. He also highlighted that the Indian growth story and robust industrial base of the Czech Republic make the two ideal partners in the global supply chain.
The two leaders also welcomed the adoption of the Joint Statement for India-Czechia Strategic Partnership on Innovation as a significant milestone in India-Czechia bilateral relations. The Joint Statement aims to leverage the complementarities of both countries in sectors such as start-up and innovation, cyber-security, digital domains, artificial intelligence, defence, nuclear energy and circular economy.
Prime Minister Fiala visit to Jaipur where NIMS University honoured him with an Honoris Causa Doctorate degree.
Prime Minister meets President of the Republic of Mozambique:
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met H.E. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique on 9 January 2024 in Gandhinagar.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his strong commitment to support Mozambique’s development priorities. Both leaders held productive discussions on ways to further bilateral ties, including in the areas of defence, counter terrorism, energy, health, trade & investment, agriculture, water security, mining, capacity building and maritime cooperation. Prime Minister suggested that the two countries could work to enhance air connectivity to give a boost to business, culture and people to people relations.
President Nyusi thanked the Prime Minister for the inclusion of African Union (AU) in the G-20. The two leaders also discussed issues related to cooperation in multilateral fora, including the UN.
Prime Minister fondly appreciated President Nyusi’s participation in the Voice of the Global South Summit in January and November 2023.
President Nyusi thanked India for the various development projects and capacity building programmes as also for its support in the area of maritime security.
Both leaders agreed to remain in touch and maintain the pace of high level political contacts between the two countries.
Prime Minister met with the President of Timor-Leste :
President of Timor-Leste, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos Horta visited India during 8-10 January 2024 to attend the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President Horta met in Gandhinagar. Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to President Horta and his delegation to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit on what is the first ever Head of State or Government level visit between the two countries. Prime Minister re-affirmed India’s commitment to build a vibrant “Delhi-Dili” connect. In September 2023, he had announced the opening of the Indian Mission in the country. He offered assistance to Timor-Leste in capacity building, human resource development, IT, fintech, energy and healthcare including traditional medicine and pharma. He also invited Timor-Leste to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).
He congratulated President Horta for ASEAN’s in-principle decision to admit Timor-Leste as its 11th member and expressed hope for its attainment of full membership soon.
President Horta thanked the Prime Minister for the invitation to participate in the Summit. He sought support from India in meeting its development priorities, particularly in the areas of healthcare and capacity building in IT.
The two leaders also discussed regional issues and developments in the Indo-Pacific.
President Horta expressed strong support for India’s permanent membership of the UN Security Council. The leaders committed to continue their excellent cooperation in the multilateral arena. Prime Minister appreciated Timor-Leste’s active participation in the two editions of the Voice of Global South Summit. They agreed that countries of the Global South should synergize their position on global issues.
The bilateral relationship between India and Timor-Leste is anchored in shared values of democracy & plurality. India was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic ties with Timor-Leste in 2002.
