External Affairs Minister of India, H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar visited to New Zealand and Australia from 05-11 October 2022.
This was theEAM’s first visit to New Zealand. In Auckland, EAM participated in an event on 06 October along with Prime Minister of New Zealand, H.E. Ms. Jacinda Ardern, to felicitate members of the Indian community in New Zealand for their exceptional achievements and contributions. Both the leaders released the India@75 postage stamps to commemorate and showcase Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsavin New Zealand. EAM launchd the book ‘Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery’. A book showcasing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s special bond with the Sikh community ‘Heartfelt – The Legacy of Faith’ also released.
EAM had a bilateral meetings with H.E. Ms. Nanaia Mahuta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand in Auckland to discuss and review the entire gamut of our relations. He was also interactd with several Ministers, including H.E. Ms. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister for the Community & Voluntary Sector, Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, and Youth, who is the first person of Indian origin to become a Minister in New Zealand, Parliamentarians, members of the business community as well as Indian diaspora, including Indian students. In Wellington, he inaugurate the newly constructed building of the High Commission of India.
In Australia, EAM visited Canberra and Sydney. It was the EAM’s second visit to Australia this year, the first was in February 2022 to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Melbourne. EAM was held the 13th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue (FMFD) along with his counterpart H.E. Ms. Penny Wong. EAM also met with the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, H.E. Mr. Richard Marles. He also interacted with the Australian Navy, the media and think tanks, including the Lowy Institute in Sydney.
