New Delhi: At the invitation of the Vice President of India, H.E. Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Frederik André Henrik Christian and Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess, Mary Elizabeth of the Kingdom of Denmark paid an official visit to India from 26 February – 02 March 2023. They were accompanied by H.E. Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Magnus Heunicke, Minister for Environment and H.E. Mr. Lars Aagaard, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark along with senior officials and a high-level business delegation.
The visit of the Royal Couple was the first visit from the Danish Royal family in two decades. His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince had last visited India in 2003. Earlier, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II, had visited India in 1963 as Crown Princess.
During the visit, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince met the Vice President and addressed the opening session of the India-Denmark: Partners for Green & Sustainable Progress, organized by CII. He was also called-on President of India, H.E. Mrs. Droupadi Murmu.
India and Denmark as vibrant and open democracies, share common values of a rules-based international order and convergence of views on significant multilateral issues. The visit is expected to further strengthen and enhance the close and friendly ties between India and Denmark.
The Royal Couple was also travel to Agra and Chennai. They departed on 02 March 2023 from Chennai.
