Visit of Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan to Zimbabwe and Malawi (June 06-09, 2022)

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan paid an official visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe (06-07 June 2022) and the Republic of Malawi (08-09 June 2022).

During the visit to Zimbabwe, MoS called on H.E. Mr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and meet other senior leaders of the country. He also held discussions with H.E. Dr. Frederick Shava, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe on various matters to enhance mutual cooperation.

During his visit to Malawi, MoS called on H.E. Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of Malawi and met other senior leaders of the country. MoS also held talks with H.E. Ms. Nancy Tembo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi on matters of mutual interest and cooperation.

MoS also met a wide cross-section of the Indian community in both the countries and participate in events marking ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations during the visit.

MoS also reviewed the progress of the development assistance projects under the Government of India Lines of Credit (LoCs) and Grants in both the countries.

India shares excellent bilateral relations with both Zimbabwe and Malawi ranging across political, economic, cultural and development assistance fields, which have particularly strengthened in the past few years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian leadership maintained close contacts with the leadership of both the countries and supported them in their fight against the pandemic. The visit of the Minister of State for External Affairs was adding further momentum to the multifaceted relations with these countries.
