Shri. V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India paid a visit to Japan from 08-10 November 2023.
During his visit, MoS held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Iwao Horii, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Japan and had productive discussions on various aspects of the India-Japan Partnership. MoS met with Mr. Taku Ishii, Parliamentary Vice Minister, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and exchanged views on topics of mutual interest. MoS also held discussions with Japanese business leaders in Tokyo, and interacted with members of the Indian community in Tokyo and Osaka.
Following this, MoS visited the prefectures of Kyoto, Hiroshima and Oita and interacted with senior dignitaries of the prefectures/cities including the Mr. Daisaku Kadokawa, Mayor of Kyoto and Mr. Kiichiro Sato, Governor of Oita. The visits provided an important opportunity to deepen our relationship with these important prefectures of Japan.
MoS visited the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Oita where he delivered a lecture on ‘India and the Emerging World’ at the University and interacted with students. MoS also visited Otani University in Kyoto and unveiled a bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. He also paid homage at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and the bust of Mahatma Gandhi unveiled by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi in May 2023.
MoS’s visit presented an opportunity to further solidify the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries.
