New Delhi: Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mrs. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh is on an official visit to India on 11-13 February 2020 and she has bilateral delegation level talks with Hon’ble Vice-President of India on 12 February 2020. H.E. Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was called on Hon’ble President of India on 13 February 2020.
The delegation level talks were held in warm, cordial and friendly atmosphere. The two leaders discussed all aspects of bilateral relations and exchanged views on political, defence, economic and security issues of mutual interest.
The two sides agreed to continue their close coordination and mutual support at multilateral fora, especially on account of Vietnam becoming non-permanent member of United Nations Security Council (2020-21) and Vietnam assuming the ASEAN Chair in 2020.
India-Vietnam relations are built on the firm foundation of close cultural, historical, civilizational links and are marked by mutual trust and understanding as well as strong cooperation in regional and international fora. The visit of Vice-President of Vietnam is a step closer towards strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2016 between the two countries.
As Comprehensive Strategic Partners, India and Vietnam have a strong bilateral relationship based on mutual trust, understanding, convergence of views on regional and international issues.
The Joint Inauguration of the launch of direct flights between India and Vietnam was held on 12 February 2020 at New Delhi. An agreement was also signed to open a resident office of Voice of Vietnam in New Delhi. Vietnamese Vice-President was visited to Bodh Gaya on 13th February 2020.
The visit of H.E. Mrs. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was imparted momentum to the bilateral relationship and provided an opportunity to review various areas of collaboration and cooperation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
