Woman has a very high position both in the society and family. A woman is the creator of the family and the family is the smallest social unit of the society. Therefore, it can be said that women are the real architects of the society and are able to lead it towards prosperity and happiness.

In Iranian culture, women are the true foundation stone of any family, protecting it and hence preserving the society.

One of the most important achievements of the Islamic Revolution is the special attention given to “women”. This special view has allowed women to have a prominent presence in various political, social, scientific, cultural and sports field and achieve significant success.

In the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, women and men have equal rights. Women have the same rights as men; The right to education, the right to work, the right to own property, the right to vote and the right to be elected. A woman has a right in all things that a man has a right to.  Women are at par with men.

However, during the recent years, western media has tried to show a false picture of the situation and status of women in Iran. But let’s see some of the facts about the situation of women in Iran that are unfortunately not told by their media.

At present in Iran, 34% of university professors, 56% of students, and 40% of doctors are women. These statistics continue to rise every year in favor of women. According to the World Bank report, Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of gender parity index in the field of education.

To talk about the field of employment and entrepreneurship, women, like men, have an active presence in various economic sectors. Today, 2390 women are working as board members of knowledge-based companies in Iran. More than 25% of government managers at high, middle and basic levels are women.

In the sports sector, 16111 sports clubs for women are active in our country. Only in last 2 years, Iranian women have been able to win more than 750 world medals in various International sports events, which is 60% increase compared to the previous 2 years. Iranian women’s taekwondo champion, Nahid Kiani won the first Iranian women’s silver medal in Olympic history at the recent Olympics games in Paris. Mobina Nematzadeh also won the second bronze medal for Iranian women in Olympic games history at Paris 2024.

Women have an active presence in the field of art and cinema as well. In the past year, 903 women filmmakers have worked in the field of cinema and 2000 women specialists have worked behind the scenes. According to statistics, 114 national awards and 128 international awards have been won by Iranian female filmmakers in prominent festivals. last year, Iranian women have been present in 45 prominent international festivals as the head of the jury.

The participation rate of Iranian women in political activities has grown significantly. In the recent elections of the Islamic Parliament, about 1700 were women candidates to enter the parliament. Since the beginning of the Islamic revolution, women have been able to occupy 117 seats in the parliament.

The presence of women at the highest levels of management in the country in president Pezeshakian’s government, with the appointment of four women to the cabinet, has opened a bright horizon for women to play a role in management positions, and this process continues.
