Jindal SAW Ltd JINDAL SAW IN ALGERIA

The Indian group “Jindal SAW Ltd”, one of the world’s leading producers of cast iron and steel tubes, has expressed interest in carrying out an investment project in Algeria, involving the construction of an industrial complex for the production of steel tubes of various diameters and dimensions, the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) indicated.

Recently received in audience by the Director General of the AAPI, Omar Rekkache, the delegation from the Indian group, led by its Chairman, Prithavi Raj Jindal, and in the presence of the Indian Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, presented a report on this investment project aimed at establishing an industrial complex for manufacturing steel tubes of various diameters and dimensions. The objective is to “contribute to meeting the needs of the national market and to strengthen the processing industries linked to the energy, water resources, and infrastructure sectors.”

The two parties also reviewed the investment climate in Algeria and the procedures in place for implementing investment projects, in addition to the advantages and incentives offered by the legal framework governing investment. A subsidiary of the Jindal Group, Jindal SAW is a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pipes, primarily used for transporting oil, gas, and water in major onshore and offshore projects worldwide. The company also provides value-added services such as specialized internal and external anti-corrosion coatings for pipes, the adhesion of which depends on the prior surface preparation and the level of cleanliness of the pipe surface. Since its establishment in 1984, Jindal SAW has undergone remarkable development, transforming from a single-product company into a multifaceted powerhouse.

With impressive sales figures, a workforce of over 20,000 skilled professionals, and a presence in more than 80 countries, Jindal SAW is a globally recognized manufacturer of iron and steel pipes and tubes for vital sectors such as energy, water, infrastructure, and other industries. The company’s product portfolio and technical capabilities position it as one of the largest pipe manufacturers and exporters in India and a preferred partner for some of the world’s largest corporations. The steel pipe manufacturing sector in Algeria is experiencing rapid growth, driven by a robust domestic steel industry, including complexes like Tosyali and Sider El Hadjar, and increasing construction and infrastructure needs. The market continues to expand.

Furthermore, it should be noted that this desire to establish a presence in Algeria reflects the growing return of foreign investors, while others plan to set up their first project for a long-term partnership. Other giants have already entered the national market, such as the Malaysian company Lion, with a mega-investment estimated at $6 billion.

The project, which has entered its effective implementation phase, is expected to generate nearly 10,000 direct jobs.
