New Delhi: External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar (EAM) was visited to Bangladesh from 19-21 August, 2019. This was Dr. Jaishankar’s first visit to Bangladesh as the External Affairs Minister, and is also the first visit of a Union Cabinet Minister of India to Bangladesh after the new government was sworn in India. The visit reflects the highest priority India attaches to its bilateral relationship with Bangladesh, which the two countries describe as transcending a strategic partnership.
During the visit, the External Affairs Minister was met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and held discussions with his counterpart Dr. A K Abdul Momen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. The two sides was discussed the gamut of bilateral relations, including resumption of contact at the highest levels, following the completion of national elections in both countries.
