Visit of H.E. Mr. Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia to India (May 01-04, 2018)

New Delhi: H.E. Mr. Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia is on an official visit to India from 1-4 May 2018 at the invitation of External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj. The visit of Minister Ivica Dacic is taking place as a part of regular high level exchanges between the two countries.

During the visit, Minister Ivica Dacic had a meeting with EAM Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on 3 May. The two Ministers discussed a range of bilateral, regional and global issues of common interest. They took stock of progress made in bilateral cooperation in key areas, particularly trade & investment, agriculture & food processing, science & technology, information technology, defence, health & pharmaceuticals, culture and tourism. An Agreement on cooperation in the field of culture, sports, youth and mass media was signed by the two Ministers.

During the visit, Minister Ivica Dacic also called on the Hon’ble Vice President of India on 3 May.

India and Serbia enjoy close and historic relationship. Bilateral trade between India and Serbia has increased substantially in recent years. Both sides have shown keen interest to intensify economic cooperation. Several Indian companies have invested in Serbia in sectors such as farm equipment (tractors), food processing and pharmaceuticals. India has extended e-Visa facility to Serbian nationals. Serbia has abolished visas for Indian nationals visiting Serbia since September 2017. These initiatives are expected to boost tourism between the two countries and facilitate greater people-to-people contact.
